I’m doing a “George Whitfield Solo Gig” at Rhosygilwen Folk Club on Thursday 21st August and I’m quite excited because although I play a lot I don’t often get the chance to do my own thing solo. As well as playing songs and tunes on the piano accordion I will be featuring my home-made instruments including Propellercaster, Driftwood Slide and Spanner Metalophone. I love the way slide guitars can give traditional folk-songs a bluesy edge or even a country feel. The evening includes performances from MC Jan Steer and floor singers (so bring an instrument if you are one!) I will be performing 2 half hour sets with a mixture of traditional and self written songs as well as a few solo vesions of Fiddlebox, Pressgang and Bluebox songs. Rhosygilwen folk club starts at 8pm in the brilliant acoustic space of “Neauadd y Dderwen” (The Oak Hall) situated in the grounds of Rhosygilwen Mansion near the A478 about 7 miles south of Cardigan (Directions here)

Great to have you as our special guest at Rhosygilwen Folk Club last Thursday. It was a truly magical evening with two wonderful sets by you that were hugely enjoyed by everyone. Now we are looking forward to your return in November with Fiddlebox. Many thanks!
